This year, joint exercises of French and Swiss tank and artillery units are being held in Switzerland. These exercises help strengthen the defense capability of the Swiss army and are conducted as part of a long-term cooperation between the two countries.
From March to November 2025, French and Swiss tank and artillery units will train together to conduct high-intensity combat operations. The basis for this cooperation is the Bilateral Agreement on Military Training Cooperation from 2021. The exercise, named 'PO BLIND/GEN/ART 2025', consists of three larger training sequences with shooting drills. Its goal is to improve tactical combat readiness and enhance defense capabilities. The Swiss army trains according to international standards to ensure seamless information exchange and network management if necessary. Cooperation with other forces is essential for further strengthening the defense capability of the Swiss army.
As early as the end of March 2025, French servicemen arrived for the training sequence at the Geneva range. In May 2025, the Swiss army will train alongside French units at the Hinterrhein and Wichlen shooting ranges. These exercises improve operational compatibility and allow commanders to observe the training.Joint exercises of the mechanized battalion and artillery division will also take place in October and November 2025 at the shooting ranges in Hinterrhein and Simplon, respectively.
