Russia is actively increasing its military presence near the borders of Finland and the Baltic states, preparing for a possible conflict with NATO. The Kremlin is building military structures, modernizing railway lines, and increasing weapons production. A new army headquarters is planned to be established in Petrozavodsk to manage tens of thousands of servicemen who will be stationed at expanded military bases. Russian rearmament plans take into account the needs of new troops that will be deployed along the NATO border.
Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, and Poland are also strengthening their borders, building fortifications and barriers. Russia has increased production of combat tanks and other military equipment. Russian preparations for confrontation with NATO include the construction of new barracks and warehouses for weapons and equipment.
Western intelligence and military see a threat in Russia's active actions. Some experts claim that Russia may start a full-scale war in Europe within five years and conduct a limited operation against the Baltic countries very soon. It is forecasted that a large-scale war with NATO could occur within seven to ten years after the end of the war in Ukraine.
