FIDE disqualified 18-year-old chess player who struck a video operator after losing.

Chess player Christopher Yu banned from international competitions for one year
Known American chess player Christopher Yu will be barred from participating in international tournaments for one year. This important decision was made by the Appeals Chamber of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Ethics and Disciplinary Commission due to Christopher's inappropriate behavior during the US Championship, when he aggressively confronted a video operator after his loss.
After his loss, Yu filled out a form, ran out of the hall, and created a conflict situation with the video operator. Later he apologized for his actions, explaining emotional stress.
Previously, Christopher was temporarily banned from participating in tournaments for 60 days. Now, this ban has been extended for a year, until November 2025. Christopher will also be under five years of supervision, during which any similar violation may trigger new disciplinary actions.
