Elections in Romania: preliminary results indicate victory for independent candidate.


Nicusor Dan's victory in the presidential elections in Romania
In the second round of the presidential elections in Romania, Nicusor Dan, the liberal mayor of Bucharest, won against nationalist candidate George Simion, known for his anti-European stance.
According to the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania, after counting 90.85% of the ballots, Nicusor Dan received 53.73% of the votes, while his opponent obtained 46.27%.
The trend in favor of Nicusor Dan remained steady throughout the vote counting. Voter turnout was remarkable - 64.72%, which is a record figure in the last two decades.

In the first round of voting, significant support was given to George Simion, but he ultimately lost to Nicusor Dan. Nicusor Dan received 20.99% of the votes in the first round, which allowed him to advance to the second round of the elections.
The election results reflect the general interest of Romanian society in the political process and support for the liberal candidate for the presidency.
