Ukraine Has the Highest Mortality Rate and the Lowest Birth Rate in the World – CIA.


According to the CIA, Ukraine has the highest mortality rate in the world – 18.6 per 1,000 people. Lithuania takes second place with a rate of 15.02, followed by Serbia with 14.9. The lowest mortality rate is in Qatar – 1.4.
Ukraine also has the lowest birth rate – only 6 newborns per 1,000 people. Saint Pierre and Miquelon are second to last with 6.4 births, while Niger leads with 46.6.
Deputy Minister of Social Policy Daria Marchak stated that the demographic situation in Ukraine has worsened due to the war. According to estimates, 31 million people reside in Ukraine-controlled territories, 4.9 million have left the country, and about 5 million Ukrainians live in temporarily occupied territories. It is projected that by 2025, Ukraine's population could decrease to 25 million. Ukrainian women are having fewer children – 0.9 per woman, compared to 1.2 before the invasion of the country.
