Ukrainian Wins Ukraine's Historic Medal in Road Race at Paralympics 2024.


Ukrainian paracyclist Pavlo Bal won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in the H5 class. This is Ukraine's first medal in handcycling at these games, reports Suspilne.
For 38-year-old Pavlo, these games marked his debut Paralympic cycling event in his career.
Earlier, he competed in the Time trial race, finishing in sixth place with a time of 46:44.75 minutes.
In this race, Bal started third and completed the first segment of 14.2 km in 24:20 minutes.
On the third segment of the 42.6 km distance, the Ukrainian dropped to fourth position, but in the overall ranking, he finished third, ahead of Luis Costa from Portugal by 53 seconds.
Nataliia Nikoliaychyk, a Ukrainian judoka, also won at the Paralympics in Paris, defeating Japan’s Shizuka Hangai in the final of the up to 48 kg category. For her, this is the third gold medal in her career at the Paralympic Games.
