In March of this year, an attack occurred in the center of Amsterdam, resulting in five people being injured. According to the Dutch broadcaster NOS, the attacker was a man named Roman, who deserted from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The man received short-term leave, but instead of visiting his mother, he went to the Netherlands.
Roman's colleagues reported a deterioration in his mental state and his statement about the dream of spending the rest of his life in a European prison, where conditions would be better. After the attack, the attacker, arrested by a British tourist, remained unidentified. The victims included two Americans, a Pole, a Belgian, and a Dutch woman. The city's mayor noted the bravery of the tourist and awarded him, without revealing the name of the hero.
The incident that took place in Amsterdam indicates that deserters from the Armed Forces may engage in dangerous actions in any country. Authorities and law enforcement must always be prepared for such situations and respond quickly and effectively.Read also
