Ukraine may start exporting biomethane - expert.

Ukraine is preparing to start exporting biomethane to Europe in November this year. This was announced by the chairman of the board of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, Georgiy Geletukha. According to him, there are 7 biomethane plants in Ukraine, and their launch is planned for the end of 2024. Two of them produce liquefied biomethane and do not require connection to the gas system. The remaining five will connect to gas and distribution networks. According to the law, gas must be injected into gas storage facilities for a month before export. Geletukha believes that by November, producers will accumulate a sufficient amount of biomethane for export. According to his estimates, 7 plants are capable of producing 111 million cubic meters of gas annually, and the two most ready-to-operate plants can produce 6 million cubic meters of biomethane annually. Details on the development of biomethane production for 2025 will be known after the start of exports.
