Special Pensions in Ukraine — How Much the State Pays the 'Chosen Ones' in 2025.

Ukrainian judges, prosecutors, and some members of parliament receive the highest pensions in the country, which are astonishing in size. Such payments are unattainable for most working citizens.
Who Receives the Highest Pension Payments in Ukraine
According to the head of the parliamentary committee on finances, Danilo Getmantsev, the highest pension among judges reaches 390 thousand hryvnias, while among prosecutors it ranges from 119 to 219 thousand hryvnias. Only one member of parliament receives a pension of nearly 246 thousand hryvnias, while the rest receive between 22 and 60 thousand hryvnias. For comparison, the maximum pension for miners is only 29 thousand hryvnias.
How Significant is the Gap Between Special Pensions and Regular Payments
More than half of Ukrainian pensioners receive less than 5,000 hryvnias per month. To have the same amount of money as judges receive, an average Ukrainian would need to save their entire pension for over 5 years.
Currently, the parliament is discussing a draft law on abolishing special pensions for prosecutors, which could be the first step towards a fairer pension system.
There is also a discussion in Ukraine about the feasibility of pension payments to ensure a decent standard of living for pensioners and motivate the younger generation.
The submitted news reports that special pensions for judges, prosecutors, and some deputies in Ukraine are significantly higher than the pensions of ordinary citizens. Some legislative initiatives aim to reduce this gap and improve overall fairness in the country's pension system.
