Imports of cucumbers from Russia to Poland increased in 2025

At the beginning of 2025, there was a significant increase in the import of cucumbers from Russia to Poland. Even with sanctions and tense relations between the countries, trade not only did not stop, but actively developed, reports 'Glavcom' citing data from RMF24.

In March 2025, cucumber supplies from Russia to Poland reached their highest level in four years. This information is provided by Russian media citing Eurostat data.

The Government Inspection of Agricultural Quality and Food Products of Poland found active imports of cucumbers from Russia. The import of these products was noticeably higher compared to the previous year, especially during the expectation of domestic early vegetables in the first quarter of 2025.

According to IJHARS, from January to mid-March 2025, 125 batches of cucumbers imported from Russia, totaling over 2,000 tons, were checked. All these batches complied with all EU legislative requirements, including marketing standards.

There were also violations in the labeling of goods, for example, carelessness in indicating the country of origin. This resulted in the imposition of sanctions. The Spanish portal Hortoinfo reported that in February 2025, a batch of cucumbers from Russia was rejected at the border with Poland due to a high level of pesticide residues.
