At the border with Romania, customs officers discovered an ancient religious publication that was released back in 1906. This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
A rare church manuscript from 1906, which has signs of cultural, historical, or antique value, was discovered by Transcarpathian customs officers at the Siret - Sighetu Marmației checkpoint, the report says.
Customs officers found that a 35-year-old man from Rakhiv District tried to transport the book 'Church Collection' in his Audi Q5 car. This book was published in 1906 and is considered valuable. However, the driver did not have the necessary documents to move such valuables across the border, the customs officers said.
It is noted that the 'Church Collection' was published in Uzhhorod during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, when the city was called Ungvár. The book was printed at the Bartolomej Eger printing house.
Customs officers emphasize that according to customs legislation, any publications that were released more than 50 years ago must be documented in writing. Also, moving such publications across the border requires special permits.
