Paralympics-2024: Ukraine won the first medal.


Ukrainian swimmer Anton Kol won silver at the Paralympic Games-2024
34-year-old Ukrainian Anton Kol became the winner in the 100 m backstroke in class S1.
The Ukrainian athlete qualified for the final, where he competed with seven athletes. He stayed in third place throughout the entire distance, but in the last 20 meters he overtook the Italian Francesco Bettelli, winning the silver medal.
These are already Kol's third Olympic Games. He previously represented our country at the Rio-2016 Games, where he placed third in the 50 m and 100 m backstroke. At the Paralympics in Tokyo, he also won two silver medals.
Kol became the first Ukrainian athlete to win a medal at these Paralympic Games. In total, Ukraine is represented by 140 athletes in 17 sports. The Olympic Games will last until September 8, with the events taking place in Paris.
It is worth noting that Belarus and Russia are also participating in these competitions, but are competing as neutral athletes.
The 2024 Olympic Games are large-scale, with 4400 athletes from 169 countries competing in 22 sports.
