New trend among drivers: what is being bought en masse in the Ukrainian car market

In May 2025, Ukrainians actively sought the cheapest used cars. The structure of advertisements in the car market showed that the most popular were budget and premium segment cars. At the same Time, there was a shift in the popularity of various types of engines, which affected the pricing policy in the market.

According to the data from the Institute of Market Research, over 10% of ads concerned cars priced from one thousand to two thousand dollars, and another 9% fell into the range of two to three thousand. The most popular were mid-budget cars priced between three to six thousand dollars, accounting for over a quarter of all offers. Analysts recorded an increase in interest in the premium segment with cars costing over twenty thousand dollars, which rose to 9.4% due to the arrival of new cars from Europe and the USA.

However, the mid-price segment from seven to fifteen thousand dollars slightly lost its appeal as demand rises for more economical or, conversely, more expensive cars.

Regarding engine types, cars with gas equipment remain the most affordable with an average price of 2550 dollars. Gasoline cars remain the leaders in popularity, costing on average 5950 dollars, while the price of diesel cars increased to 7400 dollars. Hybrids experienced the largest price drop, falling to 13 thousand dollars, and account for only 1.2% of the market.

Moreover, gasoline car owners faced problems due to the heat.
