New social payment rules will affect Ukrainians in Austria: what drivers need to know.

Austria wants to deprive refugee car owners of basic support
Austrian regions plan to impose restrictions on basic support payments for Ukrainian refugees who own cars. According to the intention, which may be introduced at the beginning of next year, refugees may lose access to basic support.
According to reports, Austria's federal states plan to deny the right to basic support to those refugees who own a car. Regional authorities justify their decision by stating that owning a car, including the costs of insurance and fuel, indicates a lack of need for social assistance.
Interestingly, Vienna, the capital of Austria, refused to implement this initiative. At the same Time, the coordinator of the federal agency BBU for refugee affairs, Andreas Achreiner, condemned the proposal, calling it 'an infringement'.
Currently, about 37,000 Ukrainians in Austria receive basic support. However, a significant portion of them are employed and support themselves without needing help from the state.
