Norwegian biathlete supports Ukraine
Norwegian biathlete Endre Strømsheim put a Ukrainian flag on his rifle, expressing his support for Ukrainian soldiers. He is competing in the Biathlon World Cup with this. During the men's relay, he ran one of the stages with the symbol of Ukraine.
“It is terrible that the invasion has lasted so long. I think it is very important to do everything we can to support Ukraine. That is why I decided to have a Ukrainian flag on my rifle,” said the biathlete.
Strømsheim became the winner of the first individual race of the Biathlon World Cup. Ukrainian Vitalii Mandzii finished fourth, achieving his best career result.
Mandzii hit all 20 targets in the individual race and lost to Norwegian athlete Sturla Laegreid by 40 seconds. The top two places in the race were taken by two Norwegian biathletes, Endre Strømsheim and Johannes Thingnes Bø.
The head coach of the Ukrainian biathlon team, Nadiia Bieova, commented on the competition during the broadcast of the World Cup.
It is also worth noting that Russian biathletes face issues in obtaining quality foreign ammunition, which affects their results.
