The Russian Defense Ministry claims to have created a 'security strip' near Sumy region.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has announced the creation of a security strip in the border areas near the Sumy region of Ukraine. This information is conveyed by Russian media citing the Defense Ministry.
Additionally, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces military formations in the Kursk region has been completed. According to them, as a result of active offensive actions by Russian troops, the village of Hornal has been liberated.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Hornal was the last populated point under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The creation of the security strip is ongoing in the border areas of the Sumy region, reports the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, since the beginning of May, there have been 33 clashes in the Kursk direction. Ukrainian forces continue to conduct operations in the Kursk region. Over the past day, there were 21 clashes, 13 airstrikes, and 266 shellings, including rocket launcher systems.
At the current pace of advancement, it will take Russia a century and millions of casualties to fully seize Ukraine.

Currently, Russia has occupied 19% of Ukraine's territory, but at this rate of capture, they will occupy the rest of Ukraine in 2256 at the cost of 101 million casualties. Currently, the population of Russia is 144 million people.
