Successes of Ukrainian table tennis players
Ukraine won two medals at the European Table Tennis Championship for youth under 21, which concluded in Bratislava (Slovakia). This was reported by 'Glavkom'.
Both medals were awarded to the winner of last year’s European Championship U21 in the individual category, Veronika Matyunina.
This Time in the individual competitions, Veronika became a silver medalist, losing in the final to Anna Hersy from Wales with a score of 1:4.
Our tennis player also won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles competition in partnership with Spanish player Daniel Berzosa. In the semifinals, they lost to opponents from Romania – 0:3.
Recall that the 'neutral' Russian tennis player Polina Kudermetova posted a symbol of aggression against Ukraine on Instagram – the Saint George ribbon.
On May 9, Kudermetova published an image of Russian military symbolism – the so-called 'Saint George ribbon' in the Stories of her verified Instagram profile. This ribbon has long been one of the symbols of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The prohibition regarding its use is also mentioned in the IOC's recommendations for neutral athletes.
21-year-old Kudermetova is currently ranked 57th in the WTA rankings. Polina’s sister, Veronika Kudermetova, has also been spotted supporting Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Achievements and Issues
Ukrainian athletes continue to delight with their achievements at international competitions, demonstrating a high level of preparation and professionalism. At the same time, the use of prohibited symbols leaves a negative impression and violates international standards of sports ethics.
