Kubilius: EU ready to double military aid to Ukraine in absence of peace agreement.

European Union Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius stated that the EU has the ability to significantly enhance military support for Ukraine by purchasing weapons directly from Ukrainian manufacturers.
According to him, the USA and the EU allocate about 40 billion euros for military assistance to Ukraine each year, but these funds could be used more effectively by investing them in the production of weapons in Ukraine.
According to Kubilius, the cost of Ukrainian weapons is twice as low as that of similar weapons from the EU or the USA, so the amount of weapons provided to Ukraine can almost be doubled without increasing expenses.
He also focused on the new security credit mechanism of the European Union, which allows member states to finance military acquisitions for Ukraine, opening up the possibility for a strategy of 'peace through strength'.
