Kyiv and several regions of Ukraine were affected by a drone attack: there are injured, fires, and destruction.


Russian invaders launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine
On May 4, 2025, Russian invaders carried out a large-scale drone attack on several regions of Ukraine. From 21:00 on May 3, the criminals launched 165 strike drones and simulator drones of various types.
The launch points of the attack were located in the areas of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsk-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from Primorsk in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhia region.
The Ukrainian defense forces promptly responded to the aerial attack. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare means, and mobile fire groups were involved to deter the enemy assault.
Thanks to a successful air defense operation, by the morning of May 4, it was confirmed that 69 strike drones of the Shahed type and others, which were located in the east, north, south, and center of the country, were destroyed. Another 80 enemy simulator drones were location-wise eliminated without consequences for Ukraine.
Despite the active counteraction to the air defense systems, the drone attack led to destruction in some regions of Ukraine. Damages were reported in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy regions, and the city of Kyiv. Serious fires broke out in Cherkasy, and a dormitory was also damaged.
In Kyiv, 11 people were injured, including 2 children. Destruction and fires occurred in three districts of the city. In the Obolon district, a fire was found in an apartment on the top floor of a 12-story building, the fire spread to the roof, causing partial destruction of the ceiling. In addition, 7 cars caught fire near a residential building in this area.
In the Svyatoshyn district of the capital, the fire engulfed three one-story private residential houses. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a tree caught fire, and an electric pole and road surface under a railway bridge were also damaged.
The Dream shopping and entertainment center also suffered damages, according to the State Emergency Service.
Thanks to the prompt response of the defense forces, Ukraine managed to destroy a significant number of enemy drones and prevent further destruction. However, it is important to continue to increase readiness and strengthen air defense to prevent similar attacks in the future.
