Bribe of $40 thousand. In Odesa, a former deputy and ex-prosecutor received a sentence.


Justice served for former officials of the Odesa region
Today, a guilty verdict was announced for the former deputy head of the Izmail local prosecutor's office of the Odesa region, Ivan Marakhovsky, and the ex-deputy of the Odesa regional council, Ivan Boychenko. They were detained for receiving a bribe of $40 thousand from the director of a company. The information was provided by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
The ex-deputy of the Odesa regional council was convicted under Article 368 (receiving unlawful profit). He was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment, banned from holding positions in government and local self-government bodies, except for elective positions, for 3 years, and confiscation of property.
The verdict established that the former official committed a crime under Article 368 of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment, banned from holding positions in the justice system (judge, lawyer, prosecutor) for 3 years, and confiscation of property. He was also deprived of his class rank of justice advisor.
The High Anti-Corruption Court allows for the appeal of the verdict within 30 days through the Appeal Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
Previously, the court also convicted a people's deputy of Ukraine of the IV-VIII convocations, who was accused of calls to change the territory of Ukraine, legalization of property, and fraud. He was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment and confiscation of property.
