Getty Images is spending 'millions and millions of dollars' on a lawsuit against the British startup Stability AI. The company believes that the startup has used, without permission or compensation, 12 million images for its AI models. The CEO of Getty Images describes this practice as theft of copyright-protected materials for commercial gain.
Peters explains that the company has chosen Stability AI for the lawsuit due to the high costs associated with such cases. The scale of copyright infringements is so large that Getty Images cannot afford to pursue all instances in a short period of Time.
