The European Commissioner for Defense will support Ukraine

As part of the ReArm Europe plan totaling 800 billion euros, part of the funds will be directed towards military support for Ukraine. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Defense, Andrius Kubilius, in an interview with 'European Truth'.

The ReArm Europe plan consists of two main elements: 650 billion euros for increasing defense spending by member states and 150 billion euros in loans for defense purchases. Kubilius explained that member states can take loans for the purchase of weapons for joint projects, including with Ukraine.

'Loans under the 150 billion euro instrument can only be taken by member states, but they can use these funds for joint purchases with Ukraine, including purchases from the Ukrainian defense industry for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.'
he added.

Kubilius also emphasized that the Ukrainian defense industry receives equal treatment with the European one and can participate in joint purchases. He noted that part of the funds from the 650 billion allocated for national defense expenditures could be spent on weapons for Ukraine, depending on the decisions of member states.

Importantly, the European Commission supports Ukraine in the defense sector and is ready to cooperate to enhance security in the region. This could be an additional step in strengthening defense capabilities and partnerships between European countries and Ukraine.
