Former soldier smuggled conscripts abroad — court verdict.


A former serviceman who attempted to take conscripted men abroad has been sentenced to imprisonment.
According to the
verdictissued by the Zhovkva District Court of the Lviv Region on July 4.
Case details
According to the court, last December the accused forged documents for two men, stating that they were military personnel going on a 15-day leave to Poland. The conscripts paid him four thousand dollars for these forgeries.
On December 19, the men attempted to cross the border at the 'Rava-Ruska — Khrebenne' checkpoint but were detained by border guards who discovered the fake documents.
Court decision
During the court hearing, the soldier admitted his guilt. He entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor and assisted in the investigation. Earlier in 2024, this same individual was already tried for delivering psychotropic substances to a military unit, and he was fined 34 thousand hryvnias. Now he has been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment and the confiscation of property.
The court's decision can be appealed by filing an appeal.
