The Trump administration is working to resolve the conflict in Ukraine by negotiating a peace agreement that requires tough decisions and compromises from both Russia and Ukraine. However, the White House expresses its opposition to Russia's idea of 'external control' over Ukrainian affairs.Tammy Bruce, spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department, stated this during a press conference in Washington.'We are working with the understanding that reaching an agreement with Russia and Ukraine will require tough decisions and compromises. We are trying to organize a meeting with representatives from both countries to start negotiations,' the administration representative noted.Meanwhile, Bruce emphasized that the White House does not accept the idea of temporary governance of Ukraine under the auspices of the UN.'There is no need to remind everyone, but Ukraine is a constitutional democracy. The government of Ukraine is formed according to the Constitution of the country and the will of its citizens,' Bruce noted. She emphasized that the U.S. administration is striving for a complete ceasefire and readiness of both sides to negotiate to achieve a final and lasting resolution of the conflict through diplomatic efforts.'President Trump has expressed the position that Russia and Ukraine must immediately adhere to a complete ceasefire, and this stance remains unchanged,' the State Department representative emphasized.
