Another stage of prisoner exchange: Ukrainians who had been in Russia for over three years have returned home.


Ukraine has successfully completed yet another stage of the prisoner exchange according to the agreements reached in Istanbul. The country's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced the return of a large group of Ukrainian defenders who had been in captivity, including military personnel.
'We continue the exchanges, another stage. Today, the soldiers of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service are returning. Most of them have been in captivity since 2022,' - Zelensky wrote on social media.
The Command Center on Prisoners of War provided detailed information about the freed Ukrainians. Priority during the exchange was given to young servicemen under the age of 25, as well as the wounded and those with health problems.
Among the freed defenders are representatives of various military branches, many of whom participated in the defense of Mariupol in 2022 and other combat actions. The diversity of the exchange participants reflects the wide range of military forces protecting Ukraine in various directions.
The youngest released fighter is 24 years old, while the oldest is 62. All returned servicemen will receive medical assistance and support in physical and psychological rehabilitation. They will also receive compensation for their Time in captivity.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of continuing work to search for and return all Ukrainian prisoners. Plans are underway for the next stage of releasing Ukrainian defenders in the near future.
Ukraine continues the process of bringing its defenders back from captivity and is actively negotiating with the other side regarding prisoner exchanges.
