The Czech Republic offers to terminate temporary protection for Ukrainians if the hostilities in Ukraine cease. This proposal was made by the Czech Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan. According to him, people under temporary protection in the Czech Republic will be granted a moratorium. Then, after the end of the war, the provision of temporary protection will cease and standard mechanisms for obtaining various types of residence will be applied. The decision is to be agreed upon at the European level in the first half of next year.
The Czech Parliament has passed a law prohibiting Russians from obtaining Czech citizenship. The bill restricts the ability of Russians to acquire Czech citizenship. Now, Russian citizens will not be able to obtain Czech citizenship without renouncing their Russian citizenship. All applications for the provision of Czech citizenship for Russians aged 15 and over have also been frozen.
