Excise Duty in Euros Hits Fuel Prices: What is Happening at Gas Stations.

According to monitoring by the consulting group 'A-95', during the past week (April 14-22, 2025), the price of all types of fuel at Ukrainian gas stations continued to decrease. This was reported by the industry publication enkorr.
The average price of A-95 gasoline dropped by 26 kopecks to 54.96 UAH/l. Premium fuel A-95+ became cheaper by 12 kopecks (to 58.64 UAH/l), diesel fuel by 14 kopecks (to 53.72 UAH/l), and liquefied gas by 26 kopecks (to 35.33 UAH/l).
Analysts note different approaches by market operators to pricing policy. Premium chains mostly offered discounts for the Easter weekend, while smaller gas station networks opted for a general price reduction of 1-3 UAH/l.
Among the most notable changes are the Poltava networks BVS and 'Avtotrans', which reduced prices for gasoline and diesel fuel by 2 UAH and 1 UAH per liter respectively (to 53.99 UAH/l), and for autogas by 1.50 UAH/l (to 34.49 UAH/l). SOCAR and Neftek reduced the price of all types of fuel by 1 UAH per liter. Mango and 'Kvorum-Nafta' only lowered prices for light petroleum products, while 'Avantage 7' did so only for gasoline.
Experts from 'A-95' note that further reductions in retail fuel prices are becoming less likely, despite the previous drop in oil prices. The reason is the reversal of oil quotations and the increase in the euro exchange rate.
At the end of the past week, prices for light petroleum products in Europe played off about $30 per ton (more than 1 UAH/l). Meanwhile, the hryvnia weakened against the dollar by 0.25 UAH from April 14 to 22 and against the euro by approximately 1 UAH.
Due to the linkage of excise duties to the euro, the production cost of gasoline has risen by 0.50 UAH/l, diesel by 0.40 UAH/l, and liquefied gas by 0.32 UAH/l.
